Instructions Poster

The next project is to design a poster using a set of instructions you write yourself.

Consider how you can use typographic contrast to create a hierarchy of the information and to make the poster more visually engaging.

To begin, write some instructions for how to do something; your text should be in paragraph form (at least three paragraphs) about 150 words long. Also include a title, and at least two section headings.

The subject matter can be whatever you like (how to bathe your dog, how to build the Eiffel Tower, how to have a lovely day etc.)

For Monday, please email your text to me (in the body of the email rather than an attachment). Also, bring 2 digital sketches for the poster, created in Illustrator, 8×10 inches, and using only 3 kinds of contrast each time.

Take a look at some examples of type-only posters that create visual hierarchy.

Recommended reading is Lupton’s piece on writing.
