End-of-semester Notes

Here’s an overview of fine details in typesetting. Address those that apply to your Event Book, and keep this list on hand for future projects.
TypesettingChecklist

Only the mono-a and tab_color_hp printers do duplex, or double-sided printing.

Create the Work Samples PDF using InDesign. Make a new doc, 8.5×11, without Facing Pages. You can Find/Place images of your work: PDFs of flat artwork, or JPGs, or a combination. Print the pages in color for the final class.

Identity elements (logo, name of organization, colors etc) applied to:
Stationary: letterhead, envelope, business card
Web site home page
Three (3) other items of your choice

EVENT BOOK
Choose an event for the subject of your book. The dictionary defines an event as “something that happens or is regarded as happening; an occurrence”. This can be a public or private event, contemporary or historical.

You will need three (3) sources or bodies of material for the book. At least one of these must be TEXT and at least one must be IMAGE. Examples:
Groups of photographs taken by you
Groups of photographs scanned from a book
Groups of photographs found online
A short story
A news report
A magazine article
A long list
A play or other dialogue

Bring the three bodies of material to our next class.

Occupy Design

Occupy Design is an outgrowth from Occupy Wall Street; touches on our concerns with information design as well as symbol design — not to mention other concerns.
